The story to how I became known as Pilchards is as follows :
I was going to attend my second Summer Camp. The food that was served at those camps, back in the day, was not very good. In fact, it was like being fed cabbage soup for breakfast, lunch and tea. I decided to come to camp prepared for almost anything, especially on the food frontier! Among many things I took with me, I had packed twelve tins of Lucky Star Pilchards in the bottom of my rucksack.
Being on the security team meant you often went without proper meals (not that they were proper to begin with..), and so on my shifts I’d always start out with a can of pilchards. By roughly the third day Ralph, the head of security, and some of the other members of the force were calling me Pilchards!
A couple years later I bumped into Ralph. The first thing he said after spotting me was, “Hey Pilchards!”
To this day I have been known among my friends as Pilchards.
A few years ago I decided to purchase a domain name. I didn’t quite fancy, “malcolmlunt.com” nor “malcsman.co.za” so I bought “pilchards.co.za”
If you have not figured it out by now, my real name is Malcolm Lunt and I am better known as Pilchards.
